Chihuahua Rescue Groups
Before buying a Chihuahua it is important to know what type of breed you are dealing with. Chihuahuas require more training to overthrow the genetic personality traits. Because some people purchase a Chihuahua without a clear understanding of what type of dog it is, they end up in shelters or rescue groups. Other Chihuahuas come here because their owners have died, divorced, disappeared, moved or are no longer in need of their dogs. Although terrible, this happens on daily bases. Adopting a Chihuahua can have its benefits. The dog will have had a vet-exam and you will have an overview of its physical health.
Adopting an adult Chihuahua can also have its benefits. Depending on how the Chihuahua got there, it might already be housetrained. With a bit of luck the dog also had obedience training and have already gone through the destructive puppy stage. Because of their size and rate of activity, Chihuahuas have a long lifespan. An adult Chihuahua can thus bring many years of joy.

CHIHUAHUA & SMALL DOG RESCUE, INC.
At Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue, Inc., we are dedicated to finding the best possible home for each Chihuahua and small dog we have in our care. Also, we are committed to good health and quality of life for each and every little one that we rescue. All of our little furry friends are placed in healthy, safe and loving foster homes and, therefore, are not housed in a shelter situation.
Chihuahua Rescue & Transport (CRT) is a national foster-based rescue group that places Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes in approved homes. Our purpose is to extend public education and awareness regarding abuse and neglect. We have placed hundreds of Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes in approved homes. CRT requires an application, vet check, reference check and home visit for each adopter.

Chihuahua-Toy Breed Rescue & Retirement – Florida Chapter
We are a small and passionate rescue group in South Florida. We are all nonprofit and all volunteer. We began about 3 years ago and since then we have rescued over 300 loving little friends! We do this for all the animals that need a loving heart, open arms, a tender touch, and medical care and treatment until they are healthy and ready for their own forever home.
Because we are all-volunteer, please be patient when you call or submit your application. It may take us up to 4 days to get back to you but we will contact you by phone or email.
We adopt out to the tri-state area of Florida, Alabama, and Georgia but you will have to drive to where the foster home is located for the first meeting with the pet or pets and our volunteers.
We rescue tiny dogs under 5 lbs, many of which are chihuahuas. We are located in northwest Washington, but we consider adopting to out of state individuals upon approval.
